Important notification:

Much has changed in the weeks that have passed since our last in person worship service. The entire world is facing a health and economic crisis like few have seen in our lifetimes. We are as a church family continuing to pray for the health of all, healing for those infected and comfort for those who are grieving loss. In this difficult season, we at South Newington want to reaffirm that we are committed to loving God and loving our neighbors by proclaiming the gospel and meeting the practical needs of those around us. Thank you to everyone who has continued to give generously to further the mission of the church. While we are grateful for technology and the impact that we have been able to make through streaming worship services and online giving, important opportunities that we will continue to make the most of, still we feel that gathering together is an essential part of fulfilling our mission. So after much prayer and consideration, we feel the time has come to restart our in-person worship services. To make this process as smooth and safe as possible, we are laying out our plan early and clearly. Here it is:

On May 17th, we resumed in-person services, having two services on Sundays at 9am and 11am. We will be sanitizing between services using a high-strength disinfectant. We are encouraging those who are higher risk to come to the earlier service. When you arrive, we ask that you proceed directly to the church building. We will have ushers to show you to your seat. If a line forms, there will be markers on the side indicating where to stand in order to maintain social distance. We will be sitting every other pew with tape marking a 6-foot space in the middle of the pew. you should sit with the people that you arrived with. There will not be children’s programs, Sunday school, or breakfast initially. The children’s building will be open for mothers of small children should they need to step out. We will have someone in the children’s building to assist them. Bathrooms are a place where germs are easily spread. We are encouraging you as much as possible to take care of those needs before arriving. However, the handicapped accessible bathrooms will be available if needed. Disinfectants will be provided for those using the restroom to clean up after using the facilities. We encourage the use of masks, especially as we sing. We will not have bulletins, pass offering plates, or have fellowship time in which people leave their seats. On Sunday evenings, we will only be live streaming our services. Should the sanctuary fill up, we will have overflow seating in the fellowship hall. On Wednesdays, we will have one service at 7pm in the sanctuary.

Looking forward, we will not have VBS this year. However, PowerLife Student Camp is still happening. We will have our Revival meetings with Rick Coram in August. As mentioned earlier, we will continue to stream our services both on Facebook Live and

Finally, We want to close by saying that we appreciate and covet your prayers as we make decisions about how we meet the spiritual needs of our community in a way that doesn’t cause unnecessary physical risk. We are continuing to monitor this situation and will adjust our plans as needed. We will keep you informed as we gradually resume ministry. We would encourage you to pray about returning to church and come as the Lord leads you. Let’s be gracious to one another as God may not lead us all to make the same decisions. We all have unique circumstances to consider. Opening the church is us saying we trust you to do what God is leading you to do. Listen to His leading and God be with you till we meet again.

School Supplies & Book Bags
We are hoping to get a jumpstart on donations for school supplies for our students when the “back to school” time comes around. We are asking for monetary donations to our school supply fund. We have found it is easier for our team to order the book bags and supplies. This way each book bag has the same items. We ask you to pray and give as God leads. This fund is available to receive donations year round. If you, give please mark your envelope to designate your offering to this fund.
